Artist’s comment: The image Muralla Roja encapsulates the rich possibilities of colour, light and geometry which are important to my work and which can be found across Latin and Spanish traditional architecture. The power of geometry and symmetry continues throughout the histories from the monumentality of the Aztec temples to the pastel colours of the colonial towns in South America and most recently the minimalistic architecture of Luis Barragan in Mexico and Ricardo Bofill in Spain. The blue frame offers a cinematic view as entering into a new dimension and the soft tones of the early morning light captures the calmness and quietness of the building in its setting.
